The Ice Princess - Cover Opinions

The US edition of Swedish author Camilla Lackberg's The Ice Princess is being published on the 15th. In addition her website has just been relaunched at www.camillalackberg.com.

So which one of these covers would entice you to pick the book up if you'd not heard of Camilla Lackberg before? US is on the left, UK on the right.

The Euro Crime review of The Ice Princess is here.

Just for once, I like them both, but having read the book, I think the British cover is the most suitable (the American smacks of fairy tales, the supernatural or lost children, I think).

Karen - Thanks for this. I actually like the UK cover better...

I like the one on the right. I think the UK covers of these books are really well designed. The US version is OK but it is not distinctive or original.

I like the UK one, too! But I tend to like clean design anyway. Maybe I'll wait and buy it in the UK when I'm there later this summer. :D

I go for the UK cover as well.

I actually like the US one the best - very suitable. But I managed to cope with the UK version when I read the book and don't think my reading enjoyments was lessened any :)

The UK cover definitely! No question. It gives such a sense of place and it's clean-looking, a bit eerie and definitely cold.

The left cover--I'd stay away from buying that book. The cover is too busy and doesn't convey anything to me.

I just ordered this book from book depository and I think I'm getting the one without the woman. I actually like both covers but think I prefer this one. I generally don't like 'real' people on book covers. I just wish that the world over would have one title, one cover. It causes such confusion even in older books such as those by Agatha Christie and P.G. Wodehouse. That said, I can't wait to read what is inside the book!

I think I like the first one best, although after seeing the North American cover for "The Stonecutter" it seems like they are going with a common look for all the books.

I got my copy from Book Depository and it has the UK cover, which I prefer. The US cover makes me think it's a horror story.
