Edgar Awards 2012 - Nominees

The shortlists for the 2012 Edgar Awards have been announced. In the Best Novel category, there is much to please fans of translated and/or European crime fiction with four of the five nominees falling into one of those categories and all four have been reviewed on Euro Crime:
The Ranger by Ace Atkins (Penguin Group USA - G.P. Putnam's Sons)
Gone by Mo Hayder (Grove/Atlantic - Atlantic Monthly Press)
The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino (Minotaur Books) tr. translated by Alexander O Smith & Elye J Alexander
1222 by Anne Holt (Simon & Schuster - Scribner) tr. Marlaine Delargy
Field Gray by Philip Kerr (Penguin Group USA - G.P. Putnam's Sons - Marion Wood Books)
Included in the Best Paperback Original category are Lucretia Grindle's The Faces of Angels (published in the UK in 2006), Death of the Mantis by Michael Stanley (which will be reviewed soon and is currently the competition prize (no geographical restrictions)), as well as Frank Tallis's Vienna Twilight (UK: Deadly Communion).
